Why Join a CSA?

First, what even is a CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and is even better than it sounds. Community Supported Agriculture look a multitude of ways, but the goal is for it to be a win-win for the farmer and the customer.

The "CSA" that you might hear about at your local farmers market, generally refers to subscription-style vegetables, fruits, flowers, and more, that customers sign up for at the beginning of the growing season. Farms often offer CSAs to bring in income at the beginning of the season, kickstarting their growing efforts. It also allows customers to access produce at a slightly reduced cost since they commit to signing up for the whole season. A CSA might look like a consistent and rotating box or bag of farm goods that a customer will pick up every week for the duration of the season, usually May through Septemeber. These 'shares' are priced competitively, letting consumers save a little bit of money on fresh produce, while also giving farmers a chance to fund their season.

How is a CSA different than a farmer's market?

A CSA takes away the stress of picking out your produce each week, as well as having the added cost benefits described above. The farmers curate a box or bag every week for you, of what is fresh and delicious. CSA's also often have other goodies in them including arranged flowers, jams, preserves, pickles, breads, and more, which might not always be available at the farmers market. If you are unable to join a CSA, the farmer's market is an awesome place to support local farmers!

Are there any other perks to being part of a CSA?

Yes! Our CSA members get exclusive access to farm events such as Farm Lunch with the Crew, and a Sunset Bonfire. By joining our CSA, we are considering you part of the Farm Family and you will be the first to know farm news and the first to get invites to special farm events.

So, is a CSA right for you? If you love local farms and local produce, it might be something you want to consider! We have a few different options for our CSA shares, including a Full Share intended for a family of 4, a Half Share, intended for 2-3 people, and a BIPOC share for customers who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, to join our CSA at a reduced cost.

Head over to our SHOP tab to check out our shares, and thanks for learning about Community Supported Agriculture with us!
